Relay  ยท  the human fast track

When autonomy stops, the work continues.

Relay brings experienced product, engineering, design and operational judgment into a build at the moment it is needed. Not as a support ticket, and not as an outsourced project, but as a defined step in the system.

Every autonomous system has an edge. Most pretend otherwise.

The usual options at the edge are both bad. A system can guess, which is how a plausible answer becomes a production incident. Or it can stop and hand the user a blank error, which is how a build dies. Relay treats the edge as a designed part of the product rather than a failure of it.

Human judgment exactly where it compounds.

How it works

EXPERTDETECTRETURN THE BLOCKER LEAVES WITH ITS CONTEXT AND EVIDENCE, AND COMES BACK RESOLVED
Autonomy stops at the dashed line. The work does not: it detours through a person and rejoins the mission with the reasoning attached.
  1. Detect Praxis identifies a blocker, an evidence gap, a risk threshold crossed, or a decision it is not confident enough to make.
  2. Package The mission context, current state, what has already been attempted, and the acceptance criteria are assembled so the expert does not start cold.
  3. Route The problem goes to a specialist whose experience actually matches it, rather than to whoever is available.
  4. Resolve The expert implements, reviews, or decides. The intervention is the smallest one that genuinely closes the gap.
  5. Return The resolution, the reasoning behind it, the evidence, and anything reusable go back into the mission and, where it generalises, into Lattice.

When to use it

  • A requirement has several plausible readings with different consequences.
  • An integration is undocumented, unstable, or business-critical.
  • A security, privacy or compliance decision needs an accountable human.
  • A deployment crosses infrastructure that cannot be safely inferred.
  • The work needs domain knowledge that is not represented anywhere yet.
  • A deadline needs expert execution running in parallel.

Engagement shapes

Shape Suited to
On demand Occasional blockers, resolved per intervention.
Priority Active production teams needing reserved capacity and a response commitment.
Mission A complex launch, with a dedicated group attached to a defined outcome.
Enterprise High-consequence operations, with named specialists and agreed escalation policy.

Response times, staffing and pricing depend on real capacity, so we quote them per engagement instead of publishing numbers we might not hit.

Keep the mission moving.
