Effective accelerationism: the view that speeding up technology, AI included, is the right thing to do.
Some drivers on a risky stretch of road slow down. Others think the danger is in staying on it too long and speed up to get through. e/acc, short for effective accelerationism, is the second instinct applied to technology. It holds that faster progress solves more problems than it creates, and it treats most calls to slow AI down as the bigger danger. It began as an online movement in 2022, and its name plays on effective altruism, a movement closely tied to AI safety work.
