Superalignment

In an argument about war, hawk and dove sort people by where they stand before anyone has weighed a single argument. Doomer works the same way. It names a person who expects advanced AI to go catastrophically wrong, usually meaning extinction or a permanent loss of control. Critics use it as an insult that implies panic. Some of the people it describes use it for themselves, and others reject it. Either way it names a conclusion, not the reasoning behind one.

Why it matters

The label says nothing about whether a specific argument is right. Only the argument can be checked.
